Escarcega is a very local Mexican place without any tourist attraction but it is a place for an overnight stop for us going through highway 186 for our road trip. For other tourists who are taking buses to Cancun, Merida, Campeche, Chiapas or Palenque, Escarcega is a transit for them.

We saw a lot of police and army patrolling in that region and it definitely scared us off so we drove to the safest place we considered to have our dinner – BurgerKing instead of checking out that local restaurants.

Accommodation in Escarcega

Yaakunah(Fair): I found that budget hotel in booking.com and the review seems to be quite high so we decided to give it a go. The hotel is off the highway so theoretically, it should be relatively quiet until I realize that chickens and dogs can make a lot of noises as well. The budget hotel was clean but the amenities were all old with very poor sound proof so we were like sleeping in the wild. In a nutshell, we get what we pay for =)
